Karen Burciaga is a versatile string player based in Boston. She regularly performs throughout New England playing violin and fiddle for weddings, parties, memorials, church services, corporate events, and more. As an early music specialist on baroque violin, viola, and viola da gamba she has appeared with numerous period ensembles. Karen holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Music in Early Music Performance from the Longy School of Music. A lifelong love of Irish music led her into the world of fiddling in college, when she discovered Scottish, Irish, English, and contra styles. She is now the fiddler for her Celtic band Ulster Landing, and she plays with English Country dance bands in Greater Boston. In addition to making and teaching music, Karen is an experienced dancer with a range of interests including contra, English, Renaissance, vintage, and Scottish dance. Learn more.
